THE WIND’S CAVE
Fiction | 80’ | Argentina | Brazil | Italy
Project in development
Mara, a young speleologist, lives with her father Horacio, a rural veterinarian. Decades earlier, they had emigrated from Argentina to Italy. Before his death, Horacio makes one last journey, tending to animals in the mountains. After his passing, Mara meets Roy, a Dominican boy who arrives in the village seeking asylum. They become friends, and she helps him learn Italian and explore caves. During an expedition into a cavern, Mara encounters her late father, and they speak about everything that was left unsaid. A film about deep bonds, identity, uprootedness, and the force of nature.

Director’s Note
The film begins outdoors, under the soft summer evening light. As the story unfolds, we move into the mountainous landscape, where low clouds create a hazy atmosphere, and finally into the darkness of the caves—spaces revealed only by the beam of a flashlight. A mirror of the cinema itself, where we agree to believe. A place where the impossible encounter between a daughter and the ghost of her father becomes tangible through the magic and power of film.
