Terceira Margem is a film production company based in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil, dedicated to telling stories with original narratives, a strong aesthetic vision, and a focus on diversity, exploring locations rarely seen in Brazilian cinema. It co-produced Madalena (dir. Madiano Marcheti), which premiered in the main competition at the 2021 International Film Festival Rotterdam and won awards such as Best International Film at the Istanbul Film Festival. The film also participated in festivals like San Sebastián, Lima (where it won Best Debut Film, as well as Screenplay and Actress awards), Biarritz, Melbourne, and others.

 

Currently, the company is co-producing Mãe do Ouro (dir. Madiano Marcheti), supported by the 2024 FSA (International Co-production – Majority Projects), as well as O mundo é nosso (dir. Francisco Márquez), an Argentine-Paraguayan film funded by the 2022 FSA (Minority Projects) and selected for Cinemart 2023, and A gruta do vento (dir. Eduardo Crespo), funded by the 2024 FSA (Minority Projects).

 

The company is also developing the documentary Imagens do Calabouço (dir. Erica de Freitas), selected for the SAv/MinC – 200 Years of Independence grant; Dois de Agosto (dir. Ana Luz), selected for RioFilme’s Call No. 3 – Project Development; as well as the projects Gosto do Cloro (dir. Juliana Curvo) and Bicho (dir. Madiano Marcheti).

Ana Luz

For 10 years, she has worked in executive production in the audiovisual market, with experience at companies such as Conspiração Filmes, Tambellini Filmes, EH! Filmes, Encantamento Filmes, Media Bridge, and Bossa Nova Filmes, among others. She currently also works as Business Affairs at Ilana Brakarz Agenciados. At EH! Filmes, she coordinated the development department, overseeing curation, fundraising, and project development, as well as conducting script analyses and specializing in public audiovisual funding programs.

 

She is the author and screenwriter of the feature film As Intocáveis, currently in development by EH! Filmes and Galeria Filmes, as well as the feature film Dois de Agosto, selected for the 2024 RioFilme Development Grant.

Madiano Marcheti

Born and raised in Mato Grosso, he directed Madalena, which premiered at the 2021 International Film Festival Rotterdam (Tiger Competition). The film won the Best International Film award at the Istanbul Film Festival and was screened at more than forty international festivals, including New Directors/New Films (USA), San Sebastián (Horizontes Latinos), Biarritz, among others. For Madalena, he was named Best Director of 2021 by the 12th Cinema Tropical Awards and the São Paulo Association of Art Critics.

 

He directed the short films O lugar mais frio do Rio, Essa barra que é gostar de você, Travessias, and Vácuo. He is currently developing his next feature film, Mãe do Ouro.
